I buy most of my quilting books at quilt shops because I like to support them when I can. Sometimes I will buy online when I can't find the one I want at the LQS.

  7. I buy most of my books from quilt shops. It is SO important to support them, if they aren't there, we will be sorry. I usually like to have more than one project in a book, but Inspiration is important, because, let's face it, we are never going to actually do all the new things, it's just nice to dream!

  9. I'm new to quilting and have only two books...which I bought on Amazon. So far, the only patterns I have I've either downloaded free on the Moda website or been given them in my quilt class. I prefer traditional quilt patterns...leaning towards primitives...cabbage rose type fabrics, calicos, checks, pillow ticking, etc.

  15. Quilt fabric and books are purchased mostly from a new shop in Berthoud, Colorado called Laughing Ladies. I buy books if they call to me. Sounds silly but if there isn't anything in the book or magazine that I know I would make, it isn't purchased. Your new book has one for every season that I would make in a heartbeat. Thank you.

I've bought a few just because they had such beautiful quilts but not very many of those. I want to be able to replicate the pattern so the directions need to be clear enough that with just a few minutes browsing I know I can understand. This looks like a gorgeous book - color is another must for me. blessings, marlene

  127. I look to see how many quilts are in the book that I'd like to make. And most of my books & patterns are purchased at quilt shops or quilt shows. Thanks for the giveaway--love that book and will HAVE to buy it if I don't win!!

  128. I like a quilt book that has more than one pattern that I would want to make. Of course, I enjoy looking at all photos of beautiful quilts.

  129. The book has to have great pictures of the quilts and at least 3 projects that I would want to make. I buy most of my books used/new at Amazon and Joann's. You can't have too many books in your quilting library. This would make a wonderful addition. Thank you for the give away. Also, loving the Hartfield quilt.

  130. I check out the projects/patterns and if there are more than a couple that I would make, then I will probably buy the book. I also check online if the book is available, otherwise at a store, that I can use a coupon for a discount! I was checking the quilt hollow blog and she suggested to get to your blog to enter the giveaway. So here I am..

  131. Hi Dawn!
I usually buy quilt books whereever I am if I see something I really like, a familiar designer, a technique I'd like to try, or a quilt I know would be perfect for donation or a gift. I usually buy patterns that way too, local quilt shop, Quilt Show, other quilt stores. Sometimes I'll buy off the net too, just depending.
    Thanks for the giveaway!
    Take care, Leslie

  132. I buy books different ways. If I like the person I will in most cases buy the book. Usually happy with results. Or if someone new to me has great ideas that interest me I will buy.
Where do I buy? Our small quilt group takes "road trips" and if I see something I wanted, may buy it. Or I cannot find the book a store, I buy on line.

  133. I buy my books from quilt shops, if available, or online from shops or Amazon if i can't find them anywhere else.

  134. Purchasing a book is a soulful experience for me. Working full-time--- I read about quilts lots more than I get to actually quilt. The "dream and inspire" factor is important. Color photos-- and photos on the quilt being used in real life inspire me. Ilove when the artist writes what she was thinking when she created the project or what the project means to her. I love getting to know the quilters. I am a :hands-on: girl. I love feeling the pages and choosing the books at a quilt shops. I may research on line..but I purchase most books from my quilt shop.

Completely interested in your book.Congrats on the endeavor.

  138. I consider buying books for several reasons. It's less about specific patterns than it is about whether I can learn something, or be inspired by the content. I like to support my LQS, but their selection is often limited. Then I prefer to buy used, partly to save $$ but also to reuse and recycle, so go to Amazon.

  139. I buy my quilt books at my local quilt shop. If it is one she isn't going to get then I order from another shop online. The cover is usually the first thing that catches my eye.

  161. I buy most of my quilt books anyplace they are on sale and I always make sure they have patterns in them that I am interested in doing, not just looking at. This new book really appeals to me because I am just learning to applique'. I have some medical issues that limit how well my hands cooperate, but I'm still lovin the applique process. I find it so relaxing. Especially when I'm not able to spend time in my sewing room. I'm learning to really love projects that are portable and 'take with me' things to work on where ever I may have idle time. Thanks so much for a chance! OH...by the way, I found out about your giveaway from Mary of Quilt Hollow. She is such a sweet heart. Hugs...

  163. I buy books for new techniques, and I never buy a book without first previewing the pages.

I am a hands on, brick and mortar book buyer, I support quilt shops. Touchie, feelie and visual. If the store is having a sale, that is an added perk! I have also bought books when Connecting Threads has a sale. I like that they let you view the inside pages.

A book has to have more inspiration than a monthly quilt magazine.

Saw your give away on Quilt Hollow Blog, but I follow your Blog too.

  182. Before I buy a book, I need to feel inspired. Inspired to try something new, to step outside my comfort zone and learn a new technique. Or the book has to inspire me with patterns and colors that I can see in a way to use up some of my stash (since my daughter doesn't want it). I either buy my books at the quilt shop where I work or usually at Connecting Threads since I can see pages of the books and I usually wait for 40% off since I already have about 3 shelves of quilt books.

  186. Hi Dawn I love your book. To tell you the truth I am an applique and piecing person. So I look for both in a book and I will buy it even if it only has one that I like but I like to have both avenues in it, piecing and applique. I also think the cover inspires me to even look first. Then I like details and pictures. Now where I buy them is really depending..If I like a signed one and I really like the author i will pay the extra and get it from her other than that I buy at Amazon or Joanne's with a coupon. This was probably too much info but just wanted to be clear. I will keep my fingers crossed because I love the cover of your book but you have allot of entries so good luck to everyone....

I buy almost all my books and patterns in a quilt store and once in a while online. Thanks for a chance to win your lovely book.

Quilt Hollow said to say Hi!

I buy most of my books from Amazon or JoAnns or online at other places. Usually it is because of a technique or pattern I want to learn or just a beautiful cover!

  193. The first thing I look at in a quilt book is the finished projects, if they keep me looking, then the directions, are they clearly written and are there pictures on how to do things. I also try to read reviews on books, although sometimes I'm so excited about a new book I just get it right away! I purchase most of my books on Amazon.com.

Jacquelynne at the Nobel Wife sent me here! :)

  194. Congratulations on your new book and postcard fabric! I just love the fabric and cannot wait to buy some! Books for me have to have more than one pattern I like and easy to understand the directions. Most books are bought at local quilt shops and on-line like FQS or directly from author/publisher when I cannot find it locally. Thank you for a chance to win!

  195. When I choose a book to add to may collection I first look for color pictures of the projects. I want to see the projects photographed beautifully and have a chance to see the details of the design. Books that offer instructions on new-to-me techniques are also must haves. In the end though, it is the patterns themselves that sell the book to me.
