Pieced Post

Today's post is about a little of this and a little of that pieced together. First I wanted to tell you about something that the folks at Henry  Glass have going on. They are interviewing all the fabric designers one by one and posting the interviews on their blog. I think they are doing a new one each week and they are giving away fabric. They are asking about what inspires you, how you go about the design process and things like that. So, if you are interested in knowing more about the people who design the fabric then head on over to Henry Glass. Be sure to leave a comment to enter the giveaway.

Piece 2- The photo above and below show a few of the strike offs from my new line along with a John Hewson panel. I am very excited to see that the colors will work well together. My friend Bettina Havig gave me the panel and I had been saving it until I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it. I now have a pretty good idea and I can't wait until my fabric arrives! I think the blue bird print will work well also.
As for the panel, here is a bit of back story.
John Hewson was trained as a printer of calico in England. He emigrated to Philadelphia and opened a factory that produced calico in 1774. He was the first to do this in the Colonies. He was also highly renowned for the quality of his work. There are a handful of quilts that feature his prints surviving today. Andover fabrics along with The Winterthur museum have worked to reproduce some of these prints. The pictured panel is one of those reproductions.

You can see that the rusty reds and peachy pinks are a great match. Now to wait...
Happy Quilting, Dawn

  1. Dawn, I love, love, love the colors of your new fabrics. I made one quilt with the brownish pinks and love it. Isn't it amazing that it goes with the Hewson panel. I might have to purchase a panel. I am having a quilt identity crisis..............I can't decide what kind of quilds I want to make. I like all kinds of quilts from traditional to art. Oh well, I won't get bored!
Loved your story in the Columbia paper. Marilyn

  2. Just love the new colors. That rusty color is the accent color in my bedroom. I see a new quilt on the bed coming in the future!

  3. Thanks girls! I am glad to hear you like it.
Marilyn, I was thrilled to find it was such a good match. As for an identity crises, who wants to be put in a box. There are too many things out there to try!
