I am a member of the Boonslick Trail Quilters' Guild. I love my guild. It is full of friends, we have great programs and lots of fun. This past year I served as president of the Day Chapter. It was a great year and I am kind of sad to let go. I will be serving as Vice CEO this year. Yesterday we had our annual meeting to mark the year end. We had breakfast and a business meeting followed by a lecture/trunkshow on doll quilts.
At the end of the year members are asked to make a block for the president. The block I chose is a nine patch in a square. I received 50 blocks made from 1800 reproductions. I can't tell you how thrilled this makes me. I sat down this morning and joined all the blocks to make the quilt center. I plan to go to the quilt shop this afternoon and buy my border fabrics. It went together pretty well. There are always little fitting in issues when you have the work of 51 different quilters(including me.) But I love it and can't wait to get the borders on.
A wonderful gift, indeed! It is always hard to take the work of several quilters and get them to fit together but you seem to have managed it well.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a nice quilt to have as a keepsake. Did the girls sign their blocks? And I so know about fitting problems - but it usually can be worked out! Hope your committee liked their pincushions!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful gift for you!! All the quilt guilds around me meet in the day and I work so I haven't been able to join one yet. It sounds like so much fun though I hope to find one that meets at night soon!! Cindy
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic! Glad I didn't miss it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty quilt. And a treasure to commemorate your past year as president.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely gift, and such a beautiful quilt.
