I Left My Heart in Paris

For those of you who commented on the pink fabric from the last post, here it is. This quilt is called "I Left My Heart in Paris". The fabric is the new line from French General called Pom Pom de Paris. It will be in stores in March. I fell in love with this line as soon as I saw it. It is so soft and romantic. I am a sucker for soft faded reds and these are fab.

I have never designed anything for Valentines Day and thought this would be the perfect line. I didn't want it to be too "sweet" and wanted it to be something you could use anytime. I think it turned out nice. This quilt will reside in my bedroom when it is not traveling. It is a great match to the shabby chic style in there.

The pattern uses 1 layer cake and a fat quarter of green. The covers should be ready early in the week and then available for purchase in my online store.

I machine quilted in the ditch to secure the quilt, used pearl cotton and the big stitch method on the applique pieces. Then I stitched a diagonal line across each block using traditional handquilting. What do you think?

Happy Quilting, Dawn

  4. I think it's beautiful. I have a very soft spot in my heart for faded reds and yellow, as well. Maybe you remember Folk Art Wedding by Robyn Pandolph - swoon!

I'm quite smitten with this pattern.

  12. Am in a bad place mentally, am distressed, depressed and just in a real rut. I am hoping working up one of your patterns will rekindle my creative nature. It's hard to be creative when everything is gone. Mistakenly thought being in the fabric store would help..........but, no, Was there for two + hours trying to find some inspiration I could barely look at the fabrics. Then I saw and bought this new pattern of yours and the layer cake and about 5 green FQ even though you only need one, I'm sure Linda loved that! I bought it because I need to do something and here was that beautiful pattern already figured out for me. I took it home and was laying out all the pieces.......... BUT........ I started thinking and maybe....... I think I am going to try change it up a little, swapping colors around and doing it half size.... will fit on my wall at work better. Will email you a picture when I get it done. Maybe forcing myself to do it different will spark something in me. (I haven't done anything for months, in fact this is the first blog I've read in months too.) good luck at market by the way. isn't this weather yucky today.......do you have 3-4" of snow on top of 3" of slush too? oh well, supposed to be 70 by the end of the week. Here's to stitching......cyndi
