Hello Quilters! It's time for the next block in the BOM. This month's block is Heart in Hand. You can't have a folk art quilt without that. The block is 12" x 12". It is a super fast block.
This quilt has went together so fast. We only have 2 more blocks and then the borders. One block will be another 12" x 12" and one will be 12" x 48" just like the pineapple block was. I would like a little feedback from those of you doing this. Has it been too easy- simple? Give me your thoughts. You can find the templates HERE.
Happy Quilting, Dawn
Terry in So. Cal- please send me your email and I will send you the templates in a pdf. I think the problem is on your end.
It is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI agree you have to have a hand. I think this quilt is going to look wonderful together and I love applique' so It has went together well for me....thanks for the next block..
ReplyDeleteOM-Gosh! It just keeps getting better. So glad I'm off work today. Can't wait to get to it!

I have really enjoyed doing this quilt top. It's basic simplicity has made it a joy to quietly stitch. I wasn't looking for another big complicated project when I started. I have a question, does this block go on the side row or the bottom? I've cut out the background squares in two different fabrics already and the placement is important with the other backgrounds I've used. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the lovely block. It really is a perfect folk art block.
ReplyDeleteThis quilt is going to look lovely.
ReplyDeleteI really like this block. I can't give you any feedback on how its been to sew up as I haven't started it yet ;O(. I am how ever looking forward to starting it!
ReplyDeleteLove all your work. Have started this latest bom and find your patterns easy. I always copy your narrative (with pictures) and then the templates.
ReplyDeleteThis month's templates are not completely printing. Is it me and/or my printer? I'm only getting half the hand. I've tried previewing and the screen shows only half the hand.
Help.

I love the dress cuff detail on this block, very cute.
ReplyDeleteLove this block. I have really enjoyed the blocks. I like the fact that the pieces are large, it has allowed me to improve my applique skills. I hope you do another BOM, I would definitely participate.
ReplyDeleteI am loving these blocks to work on in the middle of a more complicated Baltimore Album project. Kind of a "cool my brain" respite. Also, experimenting with the back-basting method, and they are working out perfectly. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOh so sweet!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this beautiful design. I have found it easy to make. So far I have made two. I admit it takes more fabric, and here in my country is difficult and expensive to get these fabrics. This is more my problem in particular.

ReplyDeletePretty, I better hurry and get my pineapple done.
ReplyDeleteI am finally catching up on blog reading and had to tell you- I just LOVE the heart in hand! This is going to be a wonderful quilt. Thank you for sharing with us all.
ReplyDeleteI know I'm late, but where can I find the first 8 blocks of the BOM?

Hi Dawn, I just started printing off all of your patterns and they are adorable. Although I haven't started sewing yet. I can print the hand, first the top and then the bottom. My problem is the hand looks huge on the screen, but when I print it, it seems small. Not sure what size block this one is. I could enlarge it with my copier if I knew the size of the block. My email is
ReplyDeleteKimdigsatyahoo.com Thanks so much.
Whoops, I see the size of the block is mentioned. 12 X 12
ReplyDeleteDear Dawn, I was doing a google search for something else (can't even remember what now!) and had the utter delight to land here! Oh I love your quilts and hope it is not too late to start on your folk art quilt! Thank you for the inspiration and will certainly be visiting you again very soon! Valentina from faraway Cyprus
