Strike Offs

Wednesday evening when I got home, there was a FedEx envelope from Karen at Henry Glass waiting for me. This is what I found inside. I can't tell you how exciting it is to have these pieces of fabric. They are strike offs, so the quality of fabric is not the best. Each piece is somewhere between a fat quarter and a half yard cut. Enough for me to make a small quilt for Market. I had already received small strike offs but to see my prints on bigger pieces of fabric that I can use is pretty amazing. (also nice to see my name on the selvage)
(Blogger is turning photos sideways and I don't have a fix. Makes me crazy!)
This is what I did with the strike offs yesterday. I sat down and started sketching. Then once I had my ideas worked out I started cutting. This is a 20" block that will be the center of a quilt. The blue drawn lines will be embroidery. You can see I have a bit of the embroidery done and have started stitching the applique. Will keep you posted on my progress.
It is an interesting process moving from designs on paper to actually working with the fabric and seeing how the designs work in "real life".
Happy Quilting, Dawn

  7. Dawn, love your fabric line. Congrats! Download GIMP (free shareware) and use that to open, re size and rotate your photos. Easy as pie.... or if you can design a fabric line, this would be child-splay.
