Primitive Quilts and Projects Free Subscription

The summer issue of Primitive Quilts and Projects is arriving in stores and mailboxes if you have a subscription. I happen to have a small project in this issue.
This is Hen House. It makes a super cute table runner which is what I will use it for when it comes home. I love the goofy rooster, preening for the hens. It is wool and cotton so it goes together quickly.
The super generous ladies from the magazine are giving away 2 - 1 year subscriptions to the magazine. Leave me a comment telling me what you love about folk art and primitive style between now and 8pm central time on Sunday April 16. I will choose two winners at random to win subscriptions. This offer is open to residents of the US and Canada.
Have a fab. day!
Happy Quilting, Dawn

  1. I really love folk art because it takes you back to a much "simpler way of life". No digital equipment, fast pace and whistles and bells all over the place!
PS: Your little "Hen House" runner is super cute too.
    Thanks! nettiecrain@live.com

  2. I think your little quilt is adorable. I love the whimsical rooster too, but I especially like the eggs and border treatment. I am mostly a fan of traditional/antique quilts, but I love Primitive Quilts and Projects magazine because so many of my quilting friends are contributors. I am already a subscriber so don't enter me in the drawing. Just wanted to tell you how much I like your quilt.

  4. I really enjoy how fun and flexible prim stitching is. It is beautiful, but it doesn't have to be perfect. Any variation from the pattern is a design choice and not a mistake.

  5. I love the "folk" look of wool...I am so wanting to learn to work in the wools & hand stitching. The magazine looks just wonderful!

  6. I love the appeal of folk art and primitive designs because of their adaptability. Just by changing the fabric choices you can create something that has a traditional/antique look or a very modern/contemporary look. The process of working by hand in a primitive folk art style is also very portable - I love that! Please pick me - carol at artlessfabrications dot com

  12. Congratulations on your publication. Your chicken runner is great, I have them in my kitchen. I like it as a wall banner too. Actually we have 8 hens. I like working with wool and the Primitive Quilts usually has a cute cat, chicken or lamb in them. I have made some of them for my bedroom shelves. I especially like prim or folk table toppers. Thanks for the chance of winning a subscription.

  24. I started quilting in Folk and primitive quilting in 1973. I think it is because the quilt becomes what people say is a "Still Life" painting. Something real and inviting for the eye. Thanks for the opportunity to win a subscription.
