Hello All. I have not disappeared, just been busy. I finished my book proposal and found out my next book will be out Sept. 2010. I am very excited about this book so you will hear more as I progress. Sorry.
My quilt history group met and did our first exchange of blocks for the Civil War Diaries quilt. There are seven of us and we exhcange blocks once a month. These are the little beauties. When we finish we will have 42 blocks. Very fun.
I have also been making samples for the next semester of classes I am teaching. For the beginner applique we will do the pumpkin design. It will be finished into a flanged pillow. Simple but cute I think. I am also teaching advanced applique and a table runner but you have seen the samples for that before, so I will spare you.
The last thing I have been doing is laundry, grocery shopping etc. so that my guys can survive the weekend without me. I leave tomorrow for a girl's weekend with two lifelong friends. We have rented a cabin and plan to spend one day shopping in the local Amish community there. I will have more on that Mon. when I return.
Oh, congratulations on the new book! I can't wait to start the Geese in the Rose Garden quilt...I'm trying to hold out for some new fabrics coming out this fall, but I might have to raid my stash and get started--and hope I can add some of the new ones in! I'm going to have to get some of that texture magic...I like the way it looks!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new book! I look forward to it.
ReplyDeleteTexture Magic looks interesting - will keep an eye out for it...
Have so much fun on your weekend away!
I love the Texture Magic, I have a question though. Do you have to sew on a 45 degree angle or just up and down?
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
WOO HOO!!! I can't wait to see the embroidery...
ReplyDeleteI tell ya Dawn...I have the worse time getting your blog to load so I can check your post. Somehow I managed going through another bloggers side bar. Glad I didn't miss this! Fantastic news on that 2nd book! You go girl!!
ReplyDeleteNever met a pumpkin I didn't like! Your pillow project will be great fun to make. I've never done turn under applique. I am strictly a blanket stitch kind of girl. Your pumpkin has inspired me. I might just give it a go. HMMM, I never thought to try it with a pumpkin.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspiration.
How I would love to take an applique class from you...congrats on the book.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new book- I'm sure it will be great!
